I initially had an idea back in 2015 to create a contemporary electronic musical framework around the medicine songs, or icaros associated with shamans. I tried creating a dense and claustrophobic landscape of sound, punctuated with moments of light, as this was what I imagined the Amazon jungle would be like replicated through music.

I created half a dozen tracks, but for some reason I stopped working on them and forgot all about it until June of 2018 when I was looking around for a new musical project and suddenly remembered the half finished tracks of my 'icaro sketches' from 2015.

Although the original tracks from 2015 do not feature on this release, I am still trying to create a dense landscape of sound, a sense of dreamscape, the night, ceremony, percussion and an atmosphere the icaros could be sung in, juxtaposed against a very modern and western electronic backing.

The icaros are sung in Spanish, but the song titles are derived from my brain involuntarily placing English words over the vocal sounds.

All these songs were created between June and August 2018 with an Akai MPK Mini, Bass Guitar, Propellerhead Reason and field recordings of medicine songs of various shamans.
