The software I use to write music on has just celebrated its 20th anniversary, and in recognition of this they threw out a challenge to write a song using only the instruments available on the very first version of the software. For comparison the current version is 11.

So I had a go, and quickly realised how limited the V1 software was, even though I used it at the time 20 years ago, I forgot how quickly I adapted and changed my workflow to incorporate the new instruments, synths and fx over the two decades.

This is the track I made, and for some reason, in this year of years it actually came out sounding positive and happy, and I never write happy songs, never ever.

Maybe after 2020 we all wish for more positive and happy times ahead and this is my musical subconscious showing me the way forward.

My track was selected as one of their top 10 favourite tracks out of over 300 submissions. The title is the Swedish word for celebration.
